God is an Agnostic?

Got me a free CD~~~and it's one of those things you wouldn't buy but if it's free, well that's different. It's something called a "Romance Sampler" and was supposedly being given free when you purchased two other CDs (from the hospital gift shop). The leftovers from that promotion were left in the little room where we hang our coats and stuff, and as I said, were being given away. Can't argue with that. It's kinda pretty. Lala lala-a-a-a-a-. Can you tell I have nothing to blog about this morning?

Well, here's a bit of exciting news. I have an appointment later this morning to get a perm. One of life's simple pleasures. That always feels so good, especially getting those scraggly hairs off my neck and around my ears. And in a week or so my hair won't look like I just stuck my finger in a light socket and it will calm down.

The "beauty parlor" I have been going to for about the last 8 or 9 years is straight out of "Steel Magnolias", a little neighborhood salon. Nothing pretentious and they act like real people, not hairdo snobs. Vito has owned his shop for over 30 years, same location. He has his own chair away from the rest of the "girls". His daughter, Theresa, is MY hairdresser. She is a darling. And knows how to cut and style hair, lemme tell ya. At least MY hair. If she ever leaves, I am sunk. It's fun when she and Vito disagree about something, they have that Italian temperament so neither wants to give in.

Of course, all subjects are open for discussion. Dissing any one particular celebrity or politician, et al, for a variety of reasons is good for much guffawing and unladylike comments. I enjoy my trips to my "beauty shop", I can really let my hair down. *Groan*

Big Stinkin' Deal~~~Yeah, that's what I said. It was some goofy thing called "Sweetest Day" yesterday. And it makes me mad. I mean, what about the gazillion people who don't have a "sweetest" person, does that mean they aren't good enough to get flowers on this concocted-to-sell-flowers-and-candy day? What are we?---chopped liver?? Gimme a break. Jeesh. Sign me:: Sourpuss Day..

This made me think of "political correctness". Why? Who knows. PC seemed like a good idea......at first. Then it get totally out of control. It started, innocently enough, when women over the age of 18 decided they didn't like being called "girls", and especially so by the "men". I terrorized the entire male staff at my workplace if any of them made the fatal error of referrring to an adult female as a girl. Poor sad easily-manipulated guys. Sheepish tittering, hehe -- "Is it OK to tell you you look good in that dress today?" Like a princess bestowing a crumb, I deigned to tell them, "Well of course that's OK, you know I love all you sweet boys."

Don't call anyone "old", they are chronologically gifted. No-one is "ugly" anymore, they are cosmetically different. And if you are "fat", you are horizontally challenged or differently sized. Do you know someone who is "boring"?---well, they are charm free.

And of course, no-one nowadays is "stupid". They are cerebrally challenged. Best of all, if someone you know passes on, he's not "dead", he's just metabolically different. These are just a few, a very few, explanations of newspeak from a little book I have called "The Official Politically Correct Dictionary & Handbook". The one I have was published in 1992, just when the fever broke out not to offend anyone

The most baffling and still a mystery to all, is the change in the workplace from "Personnel" (People?) to "Human Resources" (No Animals or Plants?).

What a world.
