Family Feud~~~A sad story. While meticulously assembling the ingredients for my din-din -- a complicated epicurean effort I call Tuna Helper -- I was sadly reminded, again, of the vicious battle in which my dear daughter and I are engaged. While we are mostly happy and agreeable to each other, we are worlds apart when it comes to Tuna Helper choices. I fear this rift in our relationship will never be resolved.
I am Pro-Au Gratin Tuna Helper. This is a traditional dish of macaroni, cheese, tuna and for one's extra dining pleasure---there is a small package of toasted crumbs to sprinkle on top of the dish. 'Au Gratin" is the essence of Tuna Helper. Alas, MzKitty, always a rebel, is fanatically disposed to ingesting some other kind of Tuna Helper, a dark side of this brand which involves noodles and broccoli of all things. I have tried to talk her out of supporting this gastronomical aberration, but she will not listen.
I want to keep our family together, and if letting MzKitty and my SIL consume their kind of Tuna Helper horror is the only way to settle this feud I will promise to let bygones be bygones, tuna be tuna, and if she wants noodles instead of macaroni-----well, that's OK with me. I hope Kitty will see the light some day and discover the true joy of Au Gratin T.H. but until then, I will respect her choice.
